The French video game market returned to growth in 2025, generating €5.856 billion in revenue, up 2.9% compared with 2024. Despite a challenging economic environment, the industry achieved its second-highest result ever.
This performance confirms the structural strength of the French market and the complementary roles played by its three main ecosystems.
Console remains the market leader, representing 44% of total revenue and generating €2.552 billion. Mobile reached a new record of €1.792 billion, driven by strong growth of 11%. PC gaming remained stable at €1.512 billion, confirming its important role within the industry.
Hardware was the main growth driver in 2025, increasing by 8%. Console hardware sales rose by 14%, while PC gaming hardware grew by 2%, supported by a 7% increase in desktop sales.
Software revenue increased by 2%, although performance varied across platforms. Mobile continued to grow strongly, while combined PC and console software declined by 5%.
Digital sales rose by 4%, supported by mobile and PC gaming. On consoles, additional content and microtransactions increased by 51%, reflecting sustained player engagement over time.
Physical game sales continued to decline, but France remains one of Europe's most resilient physical markets thanks to its strong retail network and players' continued attachment to boxed games.
The key takeaway is a market built on solid foundations. Hardware and mobile drove growth in 2025, while the complementary console, PC and mobile ecosystems helped the industry maintain its position as France's leading cultural and creative sector.
With an ambitious release schedule and new hardware innovations expected, the outlook for 2026 remains positive.
